PPC College

The PPC College is a series of three condensed 8-hour technical certificate programs which run for four hours each on Monday and Tuesday at selected PPC Meetings, followed by a tradeshow.

PPC College-"Packaging 101"

  • Pails - Tom Bishop, Letica Corporation
     This session will act as a primer for the care and feeding of rigid packaging and how to make informed decisions on the uses and application of this product.
  • Drums - Chris Lind, Mauser Corp.
     Drums 101 will cover the various types of drums used in the petroleum and petrochemical industry, compatibility and selection criteria for the various materials of construction
  • IBC's - Bill Terry, Hoover Materials
     This session will take you through each IBC (intermediate bulk containers) from the lightweight poly unit (blowmolded caged unit) to the portable mini ISO's (50 barrel). Learn what is popular in the marketplace, what their uses are, and their pros and cons.
  • Labels - Rick Nichols, Multi-Color Corp.
     The focus of this presentation will cover the printing and decorating technologies available for the Petroleum Packaging Market.
  • Corrugated Containers - John Whittenhall, Temple-Inland
     PPC's Corrugated Packaging Seminar will include a review of specification development, cost effective selection of print methods, and problem resolution during distribution.
  • Drum Liners - Joe Sullivan, CDF Corporation
     This presentation will cover benefits of drum liners, markets, various styles and applications, as well as explanation of thermoforming, blowmolding and heat sealing processes.
  • Pallets - Matt Miller, Miller Wood Products
     In this session we will discuss the anatomy of a pallet, including different types, components, and lumber. The basics of pallet design, as well as storage, handling, and export regulations.
  • Bottles - Sue Benigni, Graham Packaging Company, LP
     Blowmolding Plastic Containers will cover the basics of materials and material selection, design as well as the different blow molding technologies and platforms.
  • Flexible Packaging - David Bellmore, Scholle Packaging
    This presentation will cover three main topics: the development of films and fitments for bag-in-box, compatibility/performance testing methods and overall flexible packaging benefits.
